Queen fans have a great place on the internet, the official Queen web site is a mass of Queen information, band details for Queen, news of what current Queen members are up to and lots more fantastic Queen information. The official Queen fan club also has it’s own website on the net, part of the official Queen band website will lead you to this. All the information a Queen fan could ask for is on here, such as Queen lyrics, pictures of Queen, Queen news and even Queen music and help with the Queen tab playing and Queen mp3 tunes can be found on the website.
Queen began really in 1968 when Brian May and Tim Staffel decided to make a band, it was not yet Queen but that would follow, they advertised for a drummer and found Roger Taylor. Still not Queen but Smile. Tim was at college with Freddie Bulsara and introduced him to the band. In 1970 Smile called it a day and Tim left to form a new band. Roger Taylor, Brian May and Freddie Bulsara stayed and at the same time as Freddie changing his name by deed poll to Freddie Mercury the band changed it’s name to Queen. The legend began when John Deacon joined as Bass player and in 1972 they signed a record deal with Trident. From the start Queen have been big, selling many Queen records as Queen songs are popular with everyone, they can adapt their style to suit different types of music when needed, from pure rock to more lighter pop and Film scores. Queen had a huge hit with the sound track for the epic film Highlander, Queen produced the title music and most of the music throughout the film. Queen concerts were sellouts right from the start, it was hard to get a Queen ticket. Tickets to Queen concerts were very popular as the band Queen were a great hit live with all Queen fans. In 1973 the start of the huge Queen discography was released with the album Queen by Queen being a huge hit for EMI who had joined Trident. One of the best known Queen songs has to be Bohemian Rhapsody which was a huge Queen hit in 1975, this was the song that Freddie Mercury was told was too long to be popular! This song was a huge success at the time and has remained one of the biggest records for all Queen fans, young or old. It has true Brian May guitar sound as well as Roger Taylor beating those drums and the fine voice of Freddie Mercury and the rest of the band. In later years the Queen hit was made famous by the film Waynes World. Queen videos were remarkable in themselves, many being Queen epics and full of drama and theatrics. In 1984 The Works Album, Queen was released and with it the video for Radio Ga Ga which saw the boys dress up as dodgy looking housewives! Queens comment was that they were bored with making extravagant videos and wanted something more down to earth. The video for Queen Radio Ga Ga was actually banned from MTV in America. Queen, Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon continued to make for many years with Queen playing a record 20 minute set for the Live Aid Global Jukebox concert at Wembly. Even after Freddie died in 1991 the band Queen continued with records. In Dec of this year Queen had no fewer than 10 albums in the UK top 100 album charts. In April 1992 a huge concert was held in honour of Freddie Mercury with many stars joining Brian, John and Roger on stage for the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert. Queen have a huge following on the internet to this day as well as live, there are plans for new releases and they are many Queen tribute bands around the country, if not around the world with wannabe Queen bands playing to packed pubs each week.
